First Look at Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope – Ubuntu 9.04

Posted April 24, 2009 – in: Blog, Linux, Nerdiness

In this review I look at the user-side improvements that come with 9.04. As with my previous review of Ubuntu 8.10, the goal is to look at Ubuntu from a productivity angle, rather than fixating on technological improvements. If you have been away from Ubuntu for a while you might want to read the previous review to catch up on recent developments, all of which are carried through in this release.

Ubuntu 9.04 ‘Jaunty Jackalope’ is gold, ready for download

Posted April 23, 2009 – in: Blog, Linux, Technology, netbooks

Sure, you can’t pronounce Ubuntu, but the latest release is ready for download anyway. Ubuntu 9.04, aka Jaunty Jackalope, comes with the promise of faster boots, better power management, immediate system access after hibernation, a new system-wide notification service, and broader device support for intelligent switching between WiFi and 3G networks. 9.04 is available in desktop, server, and netbook builds. Right, netbooks, Linux distros run just fine on netbooks regardless of what Microsoft and analysts have to say.

Left 4 Dead (A Sickpillz hosting adventure) continued.

Posted December 11, 2008 – in: Games

Well, it’s been some time now and I have to say that I am very impressed with how well the dedicated Left 4 Dead on Linux project is going. It runs extremely well on consumer grade bandwidth with a decently spec’d out Linux box. I still can’t get logging working but I am going try a few things and see what I can do. What I would like to post is a list of really neat commands for L4D. I found this on the Left 4 Dead Wiki.
