Portishead – Roseland NYC Live – Music Review

Posted December 22, 2008 – in: Music

I am adding this music review to my site even though the album has been around for some time and most people (outside of the U.S.) know who they are, but I was listening to them today and thought that I would post something about them because they are amazing and this album is especially spectacular. I am speaking of none other than Portishead. The U.K. based band has been around since the mid 90′s and are by far some of the most talented musicians in their genre. If you say that you have never heard of them you are probably just unaware that you have heard them. Their music has been used in many commercials and films. Their sound is smooth and sexy and the complexity of their music is as spectacular as it is unique warranting many listens. If you have heard them than you already know what I am talking about. Well as testament to their awesomeness I have posted a video of their live (and my favorite) album titled “Portishead - Roseland NYC Live“. Accompanied by an orchestra the band displays a talent that is unavoidable and even the most unwilling listener has to concede that the performance is amazing. Beth Gibbons vocals are deep and amazing, the recording is spot on and the DJ mixes finish off the sets to create a sound that I have never heard since. For you audiophiles out there I put this album on my list to test equipment due to its wide variety of instruments, deep bass, DJ scratching and clear vocals.

Youtubes audio quality does not do it justice I would recommend using seeqpod for better fidelity.

Enjoy
