Doom Resurrection – Great Graphics on Rails
Posted June 12, 2009 – in: Apple, Blog, Cell Phone, Games, Technology, iPhoneThe iPhone is turning into the quite the gaming platform. Doom Resurrection is a great example of this. The new Doom on the iPhone is an on-rails shooter much like the 90’s arcade light gun games (Area 51, Timecop, etc.). However, much like the Wii/DS graphics capabilities limit the amount of interactivity you can have. Take for example the new Resident Evil titles for Wii both are on-rails shooters. The new Dead Space Wii port is also an on-rails game. Turning games into on rails shooters allows developers to add better graphics as they have more control over how events are handled. This does change the overall experience to the gamer. Earlier I posted about the port of Doom on the Pre. That is more the traditional Doom game though the graphics are much less stellar. I personally would rather have the original Doom game, but that’s just me.
Here’s the Doom for iPhone trailer. Let me know what you think
